Pendleton School District Receives $100K Grant
PENDLETON – The Oregon Department of Education has awarded the Pendleton School District with a $100,000 grant for the 2014-2015 school year to create a more culturally responsive staff and student body. The Cultural Competence Through Collaborative Partnership project is a collaborative effort between the PSD and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR).
ODE awarded just eight school districts and programs around the state grant awards ranging from $93,688-$100,000 to design, implement, improve, expand or otherwise infuse American Indian/Alaskan Native culturally responsive practices to increase student achievement, high
school completion and successful engagement in post-secondary educational opportunities.
The collaborative project between the PSD and the CTUIR is the only eastern Oregon project that received the grant.
