The 100th Anniversary of Mother's Day

Mother's Day became an official holiday in 1914, so this is the 100th anniversary of mothers day. 

Mother's Day is a holiday honoring motherhood that is observed throughout the world just in different forms.     

It started as a day of personal celebration between mothers and families.

Once Mother's Day became a national holiday, it was not long before florists, card companies and other merchants capitalized on its popularity.

According to the the U.S. National Restaurant Association Mother's Day is the year's most popular holiday for dining out.

The National Retail Federation said Americans will spend an average of $162 on mom this year.
