First ByteFest Coding Competition

Twenty local high school students put their computer coding skills to the test in the first ByteFest coding competition in eastern Washington.

Students were put into teams and given a packet of scenarios to code.

The Mid Columbia STEM Education Collaboratory hosting the event  to give students a hands on experience with science, technology, engineering and math.

One student participant said for him the appeal of coding is that you can't assume anything so you are starting from a blank slate and have to think of every scenario from there.
