Public Meeting on Hanford Cleanup
Dozens of members of the community attend a public meeting about Hanford cleanup priorities hosted by the Tri-Party Agreement agencies this afternoon.
The meeting, held at the Richland Public Library, is part of a public comment period starting today that will end June 13th.
The Department of Energy presented its plans, priorities and progress for cleanup project.
The progress includes: treating nearly 10 billion gallons of contaminated groundwater, disposing of nearly 16 million tons of contaminated waste and removing all spent nuclear fuel from facilities along the Columbia River.
Any public comment regarding the cleanup priorities and the DOE's fiscal year 2016 budget are due by June 14th, 2014.
