Local Doctors Head to Africa
SIGN Fracture Care International is gearing up to help under resourced hospitals in Africa.
The Richland-based non-profit organization will train surgeons and donate orthopedic implants to medical facilities in Tanzania and Kenya.
Not all countries have access to electricity and x-ray machines which means if someone where to break a bone it could mean a lifelong struggle.
SIGN Fracture Care International is going to train doctors to use a technique that only requires a sense of touch.
The team will train doctors to surgically implant orthopedic instruments without modern techniques and are leaving on Friday.
