Governor Jay Inslee at New Trios Southridge Hospital
Governor Jay Inslee assists in cutting the green ribbon symoblizing the opening of the new Trios Southridge Hospital on Plaza Way in Kennewick that will up and running in July.
A few people that attended the ceremony tell Your Local ABC the fact that Tri-Cities has not stopped growing and a new facility like this one opening up, complimented with a visit from the governor, is symbolic.
The facility was built on a 42-acre lot and it's designed to freely expand to accomodate the growing population in our area.
Inslee said the hospital is beautiful, but more importantly, he said it's essential in expanding healthcare access.
"This is another one of the jewels in our crown. It's obviously an absolutely beautiful facility, huge planning to know people worked for over a decade on it, but it's part of our success," said Inslee. "We have over 600,000 people now insured because of healthcare reform. We are doing healthcare reform arguably better than any other state United States and now we have a hospital that is beautiful and as efficient as any hospital in the United States. It's a big day for the state of Washington."
Some of the hospital's specialties will include cardiology, general surgery, gynecology, pediatrics and psychiatry.
