WALLA WALLA -- Construction is progressing on the new Edison Elementary school in Walla Walla.
The new school for K-5 is slated to open this fall.
Principal Nancy Withycombe said the new school features the latest technology, like microphone's for teachers and computers in every room.
She says it's time for students to move out of the current 70 year old Edison, and into the brand new facility.
"It was a great place, it had a really great spirit, but it was pretty much worn out" siad Withycombe.
The 19 million dollar construction project also gave the Walla Walla School District an opportunity to redraw district boundary lines.
Edison will now become the districts largest elementary.
Withycombe said construction is on schedule and she's excited for the architect to start signing off on the project.
