RICHLAND -- Richland High School students donate a school bus full of food to the Tri-Cities Food Bank today.
The students brought in more 6,000 pounds of food.
It took them only five days to collect it all.
Volunteers at the food bank say this is the largest donation they've ever seen come out of a single vehicle.
They say without large donations like this, the food bank would not be able to keep up with the growing need.
"The demand over the prior seasons is incredible. I think a lot of people coming into this community looking for jobs, a lot of people have lost their jobs. So if you're living on the margin, it's real rough times right now" said Art King, Tri-Cities Food Bank Executive Director.
King says on an average day, the food bank feeds about 50 families.
But that number rises during the holidays.
Yesterday, it served about 100.
