RICHLAND -- Mid-Columbia residents with hard to heal wounds have a new way to get treatment in Richland.
Kadlec's new Wound Healing Center uses hyperbaric chambers filled with oxygen to improve patient's immune systems and blood circulation.
Here's it how it works: The patient is sealed in the chamber for 90 minutes.
During that time, the high levels of oxygen enter the body and kills tough to reach bacteria.
"I have non healing wounds on my left leg, and before the chamber was running, I would've needed to go to Yakima or Spokane, and it's 5 days a week treatment" said Kathleen Dodson, patient.
Today was Dodson's 20th time inside the chamber.
Doctors say without this type of treatment, Dodson may have had to have her leg amputated.
