Celina Westervelt joined KAPP/KVEW-ABC in February of 2008. She is a 2007 Broadcast Journalism graduate form Eastern New Mexico University. She has a minor in Spanish and as an Albuquerque, New Mexico native, she says she values her Hispanic background. Before she joined the KAPP/KVEW news team, Celina worked as an anchor/reporter/producer for KENW-TV, a PBS news affiliate in Portales, NM. "I loved every moment, and value the lessons, contacts and mentors I met while at News 3 New Mexico." As an intern for KRQE-TV, the CBS affiliate in Albuquerque, Celina says she learned what it is like to work in a top 50 market, and what it means to be a reporter who digs for news while positively affecting her surrounding community.
Celina was also a Big Brothers, Big Sisters volunteer/children's mentor, and says she can not wait to find new and interesting ways to reach out in the Tri-Cities area. In her free time, Celina enjoys e-mailing her younger brother who is a Marine currently stationed in Okanowa, Japan. She likes to read, watch comedic movies and enjoys any type of outdoor activities. "I also love to dance! I'm a tap dancing, cheerleading, ballerina, and I can't wait to find a fun place to swing dance or two-step."
