KENNEWICK -- Jennifer Estes says the school buses in her neighborhood are being driven at very unsafe speeds.
"They're speeding through here. I'm worried about, there's animals all over the place, there's children all over, and i'm really worried that they're going to not be able to stop fast enough to keep from hitting one of them" said Estes.
The speed limit in Estes' neighborhood is ten miles per hour, but she says school buses go much faster than that.
I checked the speed of the school bus outside of Estes' house today, and found it was going the speed limit.
But residents on the other side of the neighborhood say they're seeing the same problem.
"Traffic, the speeding, people not aware that there's children out there playing all the time. We have school kids. We have school buses speeding through here" said Don Estes, Kennewick resident.
"The speed limit is posted, but they go way over the speed limit" said Jason Abregana, Kennewick Resident.
The speed limit is 25 miles per hour in their neighborhood, and residents say they've seen school buses drive as fast as 40 miles per hour.
Many residents say they contacted Kennewick School District about this speeding problem, and haven't seen any results.
But the district says they will not tolerate this kind of driving if it is happening.
"The Kennewick School District has a zero tolerance policy for any of our bus drivers exceeding post limits, or breaking the law" said Lorraine Cooper, Kennewick School District Communications Director.
The Kennewick School District says it has not received any complaints about drivers around that Kennewick neighbohood.
But says it will now investigate the school bus drivers in that area, to make sure they're driving at safe speeds.
