FINLEY -- His friend calls our Troubleshooter, but the problem is that no animal shelter in Benton County will take the dogs in.
Luis Bueno is the landlord for a piece of property in Finley. He says the previous tenant moved out and left 15 dogs behind.
"Well, looking for somebody to give them a home for those animals. Somebody take care and want dogs," Bueno said.
Some of the dogs originally belonged to Luis Bueno. But they bred and created a litter of 15.
The old tenant moved out. The new tenant doesn't want them.
The Benton County Sheriff's Office can't take them.
"The sheriff's department will get involved when the animals are declared viscious by being potentially dangerous to dogs or attacking humans or livestock," Sheriff's Deputy Joe Lusignan said.
Since Bueno lives in Finley, Tri-City Animal Control can't take the dogs.
"There's nothing we can do for him because our contract is with the city of Pasco, Kennewick and Richland and it doesn't cover the county. It only covers the city limits," Tri-City Animal Control's Mike Graves said.
The Benton-Franklin Humane Society takes owner-surrendered dogs. But bueno would have to wait months to turn the dogs over.
"Most of the time, we don't have space. In fact, we have a waiting list of people to surrender animals to us, cats and dogs, and it's several pages for each," Benton-Franklin Humane Society Executive Director Ed Dawson said.
Bueno faces a common problem for people living just outside city limits. There's no where for stray dogs to go.
Some of the dogs have already been adopted. Now Bueno is looking for your help.
"I don't want them to stay with these dogs. They don't have much food and I don't want them to go out of fence and cause accidents or run over dogs. Please somebody help," Bueno said.
Bueno says the dogs appear to be healthy and friendly. He doesn't know what breed they are.
There are five out of the 15 left. If you'd like to adopt one of the five remaining dogs, Bueno is giving them out for free. You can call him at (509) 521-5040.
